Every March, ¡Viva! brings the best of Hispanic cinema alongside a great selection of guests and events to Manchester, before going on tour throughout the UK.
More than 10 000 people came to Cornerhouse to watch over 60 features, documentaries and excellent shorts. The festival welcomed no less than 21 guests who all participated in very informative and sometimes very entertaining Q&A sessions and education events.
Several films sold out during the run of the festival, including BAJO LAS ESTRELLAS, DEFICIT, and THE ORPHANAGE (THE ORPHANAGE is on national release at the end of March 2008) and audiences also turned up in numbers to watch XXY, CANDIDA, PARPADOS AZULES, CAOTICA ANA, LA SENAL and LA ZONA.
If you have missed the festival in Manchester, don't despair: a selection of ¡Viva! 2008 films are touring the UK until June 2008 (click here for dates, films and venues)
This website is still live: you can browse the programme and most importantly share your opinion on any of the festival's film on this website by submitting a review. Just go to the film's page and tell us what you thought.
And if we see relevant news items throughout the year we'll add them here (you can subscribe to our rss feed)
