Fausta is a beautiful, introverted young Peruvian who suffers from “the milk of sorrow”, a mysterious illness affecting women abused during Peru’s war of terrorism. Having nursed her mother, Fausta refuses to be a victim and takes drastic steps to safeguard her purity.

La teta asustada has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Oscar, and has won the Golden Bear at Berlin International Festival and Grand Coral-first prize at Havana Film Festival.
